08/09/26 LAD Top Prospect Activity

Pitcher of the Day: Patrick Copen did not make my top 30 but I do still consider him a decent prospect. Today, he showed why, getting fifteen outs, only two hits, zero earned runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts.

Hitter of the Day: Eduardo Quintero(2) did what a top prospect should do. He broke a 6 – 6 tie with his 11th home run in the top of the 9th.

OKC Dodgers: Tibbs III(8) rocked his 2nd home run, Ehrhard(16) had a single and walk, and Noah Miller (21) had a single. The big news was Glasnow getting back on the mound for his first rehab start. Given how Sheehan/Wrobleski/Lauer all pitched in the last seven days it is good thing that Skubal is now a Dodger, that Snell is back, and Glasnow probably two starts away. Oh, Ben Casparius pitched one scoreless innings. Always been a fan, hope he can make it back to the Dodger bullpen and be as effective as he was early in 2025.

Tulsa Drillers: De Paula(1) had double/single and drove in three runs. Sirota(3) was 1/3 with a walk, Hainline(22) 1/4, Wagner(29) 0/3.

Great Lake Loons: Mairoshendrick Martinus(24) hit his first home run for the Loons and also smacked a triple while playing 2nd base. Davalan(6) had two hits including hitting a triple before Quintero hit the go a head home run. Elkins(30) went 0/5. Morales(4) went 0/2 with two walks. Tyler Gough(25) pitched in relief, went two innings, gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out one.

Ontario Tower Buzzers: Oswaldo Osario slugged his eighth home run for the Tower Buzzers in only 125 plate appearances. He’s been hurt a lot and has yet to have season with more than 300 plate appearances but he’s healthy now and making up for lost time. He now has an OPS of .899 showing an excellent eye to go along with his power. Even though this is his 3rd year in the Cal League he is still just 21-years-old. He plays all over just like every other infielder in the Dodgers low minors. Vargas(19) had two more hits to keep his August OPS at a ridiculous 1.173. Marlon Nieves sent five innings, five hits, three earned runs, three walks, five strikeouts. That was the first time since April 7th that Nieves went at least five innings. He has made ten starts this year and has managed only 36 IP. He’s on many Top Dodger 30 lists, but not on mine. He’ll have to do more than simply be a big arm with no control.
