08/05/26 Top 30 LAD Prospect Results

Pitcher of the Day: Hyun-Seok Jang wasn’t particularly effective while pitching the for the Dodgers Low A affiliate the Ontario Tower Buzzers but he was promoted to the Dodger High A affiliate the Great Lake Loons anyway, and once again the Dodgers development staff looks like they know what they are doing. Jang has made two starts for the Loons and has been brilliant. In his first start on July 30th, he went six innings, just three hits, zero runs, zero walks, and eight strikeouts. It was his best start ever. On Aug 5th, he said hold my Soju and struck out ten of his 16 outs with once again zero walks. Jang is dealing and I’m feeling silly for not putting him in my top 30. I had kind of given up on him. Oops

Hitter of the Day: It was hard to choose any one hitter from the Loons game. All three of Davalan/Quintero/Morales had big days. Which team has the better top three? Tulsa with George / Sirota / De Paula or the the Loons with Davalan/Quintero/Morales?

OKC Dodgers: The big news out of OKC did not relate to any top 30 prospects but it was big news anyway. Bobby Miller took the mound for the first time in 2026 and he took it as a starter. Last time we saw Bobby Miller the Dodgers were playing around with making him a bullpen arm. Miller looked sharp in his two innings, giving up two hits, one run, and three strikeouts. The biggest part for me was that he had zero walks.

Per Rotowire:He averaged 96.9 mph with his four-seamer in Wednesday’s outing, which isn’t far off from the 97.6 mph he averaged with the pitch last season.

As far as the top 30 go, Tibbs(8) had two hits, drove in two runs. His fellow Red Sox refugee Ehrhard(16) banged out two hits, with three runs driven in. Neither of them had any extra base hits. Noah Miller(21) did them one better with three hits and a walk. Landan Knack followed Miller with five solid innings, giving up six hits, one run with six punch outs. The OKC rotation outside of Ferris does not have any top 30 prospects but they all have been very successful Major League pitchers for at least one year. The big question we have for Miller/Stone/Sheehan is if they will ever have a 2nd successful season?

Tulsa Drillers: Logan Wagner(29) fresh from tying Pages for most home runs as a Great Lake Loon took his act to Tulsa and homered in his first game for the the Drillers. Serwinowski got 16 outs, gave up four hits, four runs, walked 3, struck out 7. Newest Dodger prospect Jacob Kmatz(28) got 3 outs, one hit, one strikeout. De Paula did not hit a home run for the first time in five games, managing just a measly double.

Great Lake Loons: The first six hitters in the Loons lineup are all top 30 prospects, and they hit like it. Davalan(6) with three hits and his 18th home run, Quintero(2) with two hits, two doubles, and two walks, Morales(4) with two hits, 14th home run, and drove in four runs, Harlan(11) with one hit and two walks, Nico Perez(17) with two hits and a walk, and finally Elkons(30)with two hits, four runs driven in. The six combined to have 12 hits, and 5 walks. Ah, and I see that my buddy Mairoshendrick Martinus(24) got promoted to the Loons. Mario started in RF and had one hit. As great as the hitting was the story of the day was the pitching of Hyun-Seok Jang which I covered under pitcher of the day.

Ontario Tower Buzzers: Kellon Lindsey(13) hit a home run, his fifth of the year. Vargas(19) hit a triple with a walk. Shelton(26)had a single but struck out three times. West went hit-less(10) and now has an OPS of only .592. Cam Leiter(18) only got six outs but they were almost flawless with one walk.
