Seager Catches Puig on LAD Rookie Home Run Leaderboard
There was a time when Corey Seager was on a pace to break the Mike Piazza home run LAD rookie leaderboard but that pace has come and gone. Piazza hit his 19th home run on July 19th and never looked back on his way to 35.
While Corey is probably out of the running for most home runs by a LAD rookie he can take solace in the fact he was chasing the 2016 HOF inductee Piazza.
Corey did catch one of the more polarizing LAD in history in Yasiel Puig. Puig made baseball fun back in 2013 when he burst onto the scene in June and put smiles on Dodger fans for the rest of the year with his exciting brand of Cubano baseball.
As you can see it took Seager 457 plate appearances to hit his 19th home run, while Puig did it only 432.
Next up for Seager on the leaderboard is Greg Brock. We will have more on Brock when Seager ties him up.

Seager is gonna pass FRANK HOWARD on the List!
What a studley guy, and by all appearances, a fine young man too.
So nice, so good, so grounded, it is nearly to good to be true.
It can help when you have a big brother already making it in the MLB, and your role model on the team is your double play partner who is a lock to be inducted into The Hall of Fame.
Corey Seager, long may you run!

Yes.i never did buy those wrist bands from Puig’s last minor league game when he was called up.
I did attend his first two games at Dodger Stadium though.
I purchased seats near the old stomping grounds, on the field, aisle 18, row G.
The game was moving on, Puig came to bat, it wasn’t that big a crowd, and no one seated near me seemed to have a clue about who Puig was. As Puig stepped into the box the crowd was quiet, barely a murmur was rising from the stands. Puig took a pitch and I yelled, “COME ON PUIG!!!”, with all my might. They probably heard me in the left field Pavillion. I heard one person behind me to my right ask, Who’s Puig?”. Perhaps hearing his name, perhaps not, Puig pounded firmly on the top of his helmet with his right fist and dug into the box. KA BOOM! HOME RUN!
Such a great time.
Puig should study the highlight clip.
The hands got out there so quickly with that swing.
He doesn’t look like the same player today.
Puig might be able to turn his baseball fortunes around in 2017.
I will always love that first season.
Puig now finds himself in circumstances of his own making and although I find myself frustrated and disappointed in my Puig Fandom, I will continue to root for him!
COME ON PUIG!
