Pitcher of the Day: Tyler Gough? I mean Sheehan is years removed from being a prospect so he can’t really get this every time he pitchers in AAA. Gough only got six outs, but it was as good a six out outing as you can have. One hit, no runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

Hitter of the Day: Kellon Lindsey showed off his power and speed, collecting his eighth home run along with his eleventh and twelfth steal. On the day he had four hits in four at-bats driving in three runs from the lead off spot. The 20-year-old Lindsey now has an OPS of .915 in the California League.

OKC Dodgers: Emmet Sheehan just toyed with the Houston AAA team, going six full innings, allowing only one hit, one walk, and struck out nine. Gavin Stone and Sheehan have basically been unhittable since joining the OKC Dodger rotation. Stone is on rehab while Sheehan was removed from the rotation when the better arms started getting healthy. Unless a new rash of injuries hits the Dodger rotation the only spot for either of these guys will be in the bullpen. It will be interesting if they can impact the Dodger bullpen in Sept.

Tulsa Drillers: De Paula had three hits including his 25th home run. Sirota is finally back and showed some rust. Sirota last played on August 14th. Newell drilled his 21st home run. I like Sirota as a Dodger prospect but he’s more than two years older than Quintero and I simply don’t understand the prospect hounds who like Sirota more than Quintero. I mean when Quintero is as old as Sirota he’ll be a starting major League CF for someone, not banging around in AA all year. Plus Quintero has never been hurt since he started playing in the Dodger organization as a 17 year old. Sirota missed most of his draft season, missed 1/2 of last season, all in just the last three years.

Great Lake Loons: Davalan/Quintero/Morales/Perez/Elkins/Martinus combined to go 4/21 with four singles. Former number one pick Maddux Bruns has been as bustiest as you can be. He’s trying to start over again with the Loons and his attempt was good, getting six outs, one hit, zero runs, one walk, and two K’s.

Ontario Tower Buzzers: It was a good day for the Tower Buzzers. Besides what Lindsey did, Joendry Vargas had three hits and also drove in three runs. Included in those three hits was his 34th double. That is a lot of doubles. Vargas now has an August OPS of 1.074.
