Get your tickets now – Weaver will start game 3

Opening day doesn’t cut it for me anymore, maybe someday when there is a ring ceremony to accompany the pageantry, otherwise, it is just to expensive a ticket for me to justify.  Even when I had season tickets I’d sell opening day to help defray the cost of the season tickets. I always felt that if someone wanted to pay me $300 for two tickets to one baseball game that were worth $25 on any other night, I was more than happy to oblige them.

Though I have to admit the last opening day I went to was a doozy. I took Joe and Chris and we were treated to the pitching and hitting of Clayton Kershaw as he shut out the Giants while hitting a home run.

Hmmm, maybe I should change my stance on this.

Instead,  I usually go to the game after opening day but this year I just saw that Jered Weaver is going to start game three for the Padres. How can you pass up that opportunity?

The last opening day I went to was the day Blake DeWitt got his first major league hit. I don’t remember the year.

    • 2008, that was the spring where Nomar and LaRoche got hurt in the same game and Blake DeWitt was forced to start. He ended up having a solid 22 year old rookie season and had a huge hit in the postseason. I remember he had a rep as a stone glove 3rd baseman but it turned out his glove was great, his bat not so much. The TBLA editor at the time, Andrew Grant was big on LaRoche and didn’t like DeWitt. I don’t think Andrew was ever the same.

I was at this game too!

The game on Thursday April 6 looks to have a 12:10 PM start time.
I think I’m gonna have to be there.

I have made it a point to be in attendance at many Opening Day games.
Think I will change up and start with game 2 this year.

In fact, I wore my DeWitt t shirt to BP today!
And still have it on right now!

I was hoping for a Kevin Seitzer. Oh well. I enjoyed him while it lasted. Seemed like a good kid.
