MLB Pipeline Dodger Top 30 August Update

The final prospect updates are coming in fast and furious and earlier this week, MLB Pipeline put out their latest update to the Dodgers top 30 list. Like everyone else they love the addition of Bo Lowrance. So far Bo has squeezed into the top ten for just about everyone. The top six are basically interchangeable. Pipeline is the highest related to James Tibbs putting him at number 7. A few names stand out compared to Baseball America and myself.

Jaron Elkins is aggressively rated at 18. Baseball America does not have him in their top 30, and he made the 30 spot on my ranking when Hope and Smith were traded.

I’d say the biggest gripe I would have with the Pipeline list is that the hottest player in the Dodger system was omitted. Which is very odd, because Joendry Vargas was a huge international signing, and they usually let those guys have some runway before calling them a bust. Joendry Vargas is anything but a bust. He may have fallen a year behind Eduardo Quintero on the ladder but he’s really making up for lost time. The man still plays SS more times than not, has 50 extra base hits, and is just crushing it in August to the tune of a TSL of .406/..417/.730. Yeah, a .730 slugging % in seventy at-bats. I’m not saying he’s a top ten prospect like it used to look he was headed toward, but I’d take his chances over every other hitter on this list not on the top ten list. I think they made a mistake and it will be corrected.

Aiden Foeller clocks in on their list at 21 and to be honest I knew very little about him. Aidan was the 11th pick in the 2024 draft wasn’t very impressive in 2025. In 2026 he started out repeating the season with the Loons and pitched well enough to get promoted to AA (Drillers) in July. The day after the Pipeline list came out and I said who is this guy and I got to find out because I tuned in the Driller game that had them facing the best pitching prospect in baseball in Kade Anderson. Luckily Fox got hurt after one inning and Foeller came in. Well, he matched Kade Anderson pitch for pitch for five innings and now I can see why he’s on the list. Definitely someone to keep on eye on going forward.

In all, Pipeline has five names that didn’t make the BA list. Jaron Elkins, Logan Wagner, Ryan Ward, Brooks Auger, and Eduardo Rojas. Pipeline also had five names that didn’t make my top 30 list but the names were mostly different. Aiden Foeller, Sterling Patrick, Marlon Nieves, Brooks Auger, and Eduardo Rojas. Rojas is a 19 year old Complex League Catcher so it seems like a bit of a reach but we’ll see.

Conversely, Pipeline has four names missing that BA has in Joendry Vargas, Adam Serwinowski, Russell Sandefer, and Easton Shelton. We differ on six prospects, the aforementioned four, plus my favorite name Mairoshendrick Martinus and Tyler Gough.
