Matt Kemp has blown my mind
As of today, Matt Kemp has the highest wRC+ for National League left fielders. Matt Kemp has the third highest WRC+ for any positional National League player. We are now thirty-five games into the season which is about 21% of the season and Matt Kemp isn’t slowing down, he’s getting better.
Many of us hoped for a resurgent Matt Kemp but nobody, not even his biggest fan, one Bobby Down could have foretold that Matt Kemp would be beasting at this level.
Without further ado, the May 9th, Left Field wRC+ leaderboard.

The Robot Made of Nails is back!
The Dodgers should be able to find a AL team that would pick up $5 mil per of the contract to have Kemp DH?

Matt Kemp is one of my all-time favorites. When the Dodgers traded for him I was very happy, but the consensus, of course, was that it was part of a salary dump. I deluded myself into thinking that they would hang on to him, and that he would be a contributor. Turns out I wasn’t so deluded. He’s been the only bright spot for me so far.

I have had similar feelings regarding Kemp.
It is wonderful to see him hitting so well and he has not embarrassed himself with the glove.
He is just crushing LHP (.395/.452/.605/1.085). Last season the talk was about acquiring Braun to do just this.
I’m not eager to see Kemp go. A platoon situation in LF could help preserve his legs, but Kemp is raking vs RHP too (.328/.343/.547/.890) so there is no reason to remove him vs RHP other than just to give him a breather.
Maybe Kemp woke up and decided that he really wants to play for the Dodgers?
Sure does look like it … even if it means playing LF!
