Dodgers start the year with eight straight games
Which I thought was a little strange because my memory says they normally have at least one day off the first week of the year. To see how my memory is working I went to work.
In 2016 they had an off day between games 7 and 8
In 2015 they had an off day between games 3 and 4
In 2014 they had an off day between games 3 and 4 even after the delayed start in Australia where they played games 1 and 2 and had six days off until game 3.
In 2013 they had an off day between games 3 and 4
In 2012 they had an off day between games 4 and 5
In 2011 they had an off day between games 4 and 5
In 2010 they had an off day between games 1 and 2
Yup, this is different but maybe it is the new normal since this is the second year in a row that they play at least seven straight games.
How about others in the division.
- The Giants are off between game one and game two.
- The Diamondbacks are off between game one and game two.
- The Dodgers start with the Padres for four so it makes sense that the Padres don’t have any off days as they takes you to the weekend.
- Yikes, the Rockies start the season with fourteen straight games.

Seems like a great idea to have a travel day spacing things out for teams playing in the cooler climes.
Places like Minnesota, Chicago, and Cleveland. Heck those teams could just as well start the season on a two week road trip playing teams located in the warmer parts of the country.
Nighttime Temps for today and tomorrow –
32, 33 Minneapolis
39, 34 Chicago
52, 38 Cleveland
52, 42 Cincinnati
33, 26 Denver
40, 38 Detroit
39, 40 Kansas City
37, 34 Milwaukee
40, 37 New York City
42, 43 Philadelphia
51, 44 Pittsburgh
45, 41 St. Louis
40, 46 Seattle
47, 50 DC
BRRRRR!

Yes, it screws the cold weather teams from having a real opening day, but I always wondered why the cold weather teams weren’t on the road at the beginning of April playing the warm weather teams.
